Here are some gift ideas for the people on your list who you might not know very well. These are often the hardest people to shop for, as you need to get them something, but you don’t want to betray the fact that you know absolutely nothing about them or what is going on in their lives. Here, then are some good ideas for just about anyone:
“Neiman Marcus Cooks” Cookbook- $45 at Neiman Marcus
Anyone who has eaten at a Neiman Marcus restaurant is going to want this book for the popover recipe alone (with their strawberry butter, so good!). Packed with mouth-watering pictures of classic and updated recipes, there’s something to love for pretty much everyone.
Cablekeeps Cord Organizer- $14 at MOMA Store
This cute little cable organizer is a great little gift for anyone who owns an iPhone or iPad (so pretty much anyone). The tail on the fish doubles as a charging pedestal when it’s not keeping your cord tangle-free.
Bio Pop Dino Pet- $60 from Bio Pop
Probably one of the coolest gifts I’ve seen this year. This dinosaur-shaped aquarium is filled with bioluminescent dinoflagellates (glowing plankton). This would make a great nightlight for a child (you can shake them to get them glowing), or a great paperweight for a grownup kid.
Neiman Marcus S’mores Kit- $24 Neiman Marcus
Apparently, S’mores are enjoying a bit of a renaissance right now. This classy little kit is a great generic gift, who doesn’t like S’mores?
Molecular Gastronomy Kit- $49 from Uncommon Goods
For the foodie on your list- this kit comes with everything they need (including an instructional DVD) to learn all the crazy techniques used at the trendiest restaurants.
Cherry Blossom Morph Mug- $12 at Kikkerland Design
This heat-reactive mug blooms when hot liquids are poured into it. A beautiful reminder that spring is coming, it also serves as a cold coffee early-warning system.
