A while ago I posted the worst of the fall collections. There was a lot of awful stuff to choose from, unfortunately. However, just as every dark cloud has a silver lining, the horrors we witnessed during fashion week are not the whole story. Here are some great looks and major trends from the fall ready to wear collections:
Hervé Léger is renowned for making super sexy dresses, and I love the way he’s interpreted this trend. Very Alexander McQueen-esque.
I love the graphic vibe on this J Mendel dress.
The lines on this Monique Lhuillier dress are so flattering, the lines accentuate the model’s figure perfectly.
Marchesa always dominates in the formalwear category, and this season is no different. This dress looks like really sexy curtains, and I’m totally into it.
Another Marchesa dress, the pleated draping on this gown is flawless!
Olivia Munn wore this Marchesa dress to the Oscars, and she looked absolutely amazing. I love the play between the fitted corset bodice and the luxuriant draping of the skirt. So statuesque!
An elegant tapestry from Naeem Khan.
This dress is so many things. I just can’t. Oscar de la Renta is killing me! I need this dress to live. High drama.
I hadn’t really paid much attention to Pamela Roland before this season, but she really has some gorgeous gowns. This mermaid gown is really wonderful, and I love the beading along the ruching.
Gorgeousness from Reem Acra.
Sheer lace is huge this season, and these looks by Alice and Olivia are a great example of the trend.
I’m not sure exactly what kind of underwear you would wear under this Elie Saab look, but I hope they’re warm!
I love the complex scrolling on this J Mendel dress, and the way it combines with the sheer panels to create a futuristic look.
The way Oscar de la Renta ruched the netting on the neckline is genius. This dress is the perfect parts sexy and ladylike. I’m also in love with that belt.
Oscar de la Renta is getting a little risqué! I’m not going to lie, I would totally wear this dress, like, everywhere. People would have to tell me “ma’am, that’s really not appropriate to wear on a playground.”
If you only buy one piece to update your wardrobe for fall, make it a belt. If you buy two things, make them two slightly different belts. Seriously, everything is belted this year. Belt all of the things!
A belted fur vest at Badgley Mischka.
Badgley Mischka, belting an evening gown.
Carolina Herrera does some amazing belts and I love her effortless elegance, so simple and so chic.
I heard they’re making The Devil Wears Prada 2, this time it looks like she should be wearing Carolina Herrera.
Dsquared2 had a great collection for fall, and this super fitted trench dress thing is killing it.
I can’t even talk about this Gucci ensemble. I just can’t. It’s too good.
Love the belted trench at Jason Wu, hate the peep-toe boots. Who wants frostbite this year? On the bright side, you could probably go down a few shoe sizes after having those toes removed. You’d clean up at shoe sales.
I need this entire look. J Mendel is going to be responsible for my bankruptcy.
Notice the unique belt on this floral gown by Monique Lhuillier.
Michael Kors had some missteps this fall, but I love this belted jacket with the elegant collar line.
Vera Wang actually layered over a furry tunic, but I think it kind of works, especially with the belt proving that you have a waist under all that fur. Still, probably not for people above a size 2.
I love the how the daring neckline on this ZAC Zac Posen gown is softened by the satin bow.
Dusters and Capelets
I’m not going to lie; I would probably lose the dress, lose the gloves and the jewelry and wear this super cozy-looking sweater by Dsquared2 around the house everyday. It’s like a super high-end snuggie, and I mean that in the best possible way.
I love how Dsquared2 is bringing the drama this season! This look is right out of the golden age of hollywood!
I’m not usually into asymmetry, but this capelet by Reem Acra is actually pretty awesome. I like how it reveals the lines of the dress.
I’m not sure how warm this little bolero from ZAC Zac Posen will keep you, but I suppose every little bit helps.
Superhero dress! ZAC Zac Posen.
Zac Posen knows how to make an entrance. Imagine the drama when you unhook the cape and it flutters slowly to the ground.
Here’s some great stuff that didn’t really fit into any over-all trends, but is still stunning none-the-less.
This Louis Vuitton bag. Want.
My brain falls out of my head every time I watch a Marchesa show. Gorgeous.
Again, Marchesa, killing me. I would need to join like five country clubs and chair 10 major charities to need all of the gowns that I want to buy this season.
Not many bridge lines appeal to me, but ZAC Zac Posen really stands out. Love the lady-like glamour of this dress. And it’s more affordable, right?
Again, ZAC Zac Posen. Love the lines, and the contrasting.
Full-line Zac Posen, worn by Bruna Tenorio. Two of my favorite things!
